Philadelphia, PA, December 14, 2004 - Philadelphia Composer Andrew Hanna has completed a taping of Prophecies of War for the Comcast television show High Wired. This tapping will broadcast in the spring of 2005. Prophecies of War combines visual multimedia, poetry, and music into a narrative collective performance that explores the stages of war and its impact on society. Prophecies of War was chosen for High Wired due to its content and its vanguard qualities.
"I was excited when High Wired producer John Vanzantd asked me to perform Prophecies of War for his show," says Andrew Hanna., composer of Prophecies of War and two other productions. "Prophecies of War reflects my deep understanding on the connectivity of the arts into a collective whole. Although performance art reached a cultural high in the early 20th century, I feel it will be making a comeback in the near future. I originally created this piece in the spring of 2001 and was completed in September of that year. Although we performed the abridged version of Prophecies of War, I’m looking forward to seeing the unabridged production performed in the immediate future."
To create a collective art piece, Hanna begins with a general theme that he would like to express. Afterwards the format and media are determined, which determines how the production will develop. With the convenience of paper, pen, computers, and synthesizers, he can develop several theatrical productions at one time. Although he has extensive experience in large productions, he also creates chamber music for various ensembles.
